About

Upbeat, chaotic and passionate about life Lawrence J-P fell in love with music the moment he heard it. Reminisced by his primary school peers as “always singing” it’s no surprise where Lawrence has found himself. Having spent the majority of his life studying classical cello and graduating from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with it as his principal study, he decided to take the cello out of the orchestra and into the world of pop. Lawrence started writing songs on his ukulele as a teenager about his favourite foods such as Curry Sauce and FAB lollies. When it came to light that all of his friends knew all the lyrics and would unironically put them on at parties he started to branch out from joke songs and start writing about himself and his experiences in life. After spending time doing workshops with Abel Selaocoe and being truly inspired he realised the cello is not confined to only the classical world and can be used however you want! This is really where the modern day sound of Lawrence J-P arose. His debut single “Supermarket Houseplant” put him on the map, with an upbeat catchy melody with witty lyrics and an outrageous cello solo the song embodied what Lawrence J-P is all about!
